Western rainforest

Vines curl around the entangled tree branches and thick underbrush grows in the moist air. Something seems odd about the shadows though; they are darker and more ominous then you'd expect.

A region populated by dense jungles that exists on the western banks of Roswell's River, past the Farsang Fens. A large portion of the land seems to be under the dark influence of the Bone Ziggurat: an oppressive, evil aura blankets the region, and becomes even more tangible once the sun has set.

It is known that the dead walk the earth at night, particularly beings such as vampires and wraiths, which create spawn from fallen victims. No Pathfinder has dared confirm this.

Points of Interest[]

  1. Bone Ziggurat - A dread tower made of bone, topped by enormous skulls. It is the domain of the Necromancer and his Disciples.
  2. Crater - A large crater, seen from a distance, that seems similar to the chasm in the Northern Badlands. If so, it may hold an entrance to the Underdark. Conversation with a deep gnome indicated that such a crack in the earth was located near the Fungal Forest; it is possible the crater leads here.
  3. Rainforest Cannon - An enormous structure that initially appeared to be a fallen tower, but is apparently a giant cannon. It has not been investigated closely.
  4. Great Tree Shrine - A 500 foot tall pine that stands out from the rest of the area is a shrine to Yoma and a pilgrimage site for druids. It appears unaffected by the negative influence of the area around it.
  5. Cathedral of the Blackened Sun - According to the reformed changeling assassins, a cathedral of their former cult exists in the rainforest. The Pathfinders do not yet know its exact location.
  6. Castle Caernarvon - An old castle surrounded by rivers yet to be visited by the Pathfinders. It was mentioned as an off-limits area in notes found at the Cathedral of the Blackened Sun.
  7. Overwood Pass - This deep chasm leads to depths unknown, possibly all the way to the Underdark. A bridge spans its width, which a storm giant seems to guard.

Routes and Rivers[]

  1. Roswell's River - Flows to the north before joining with the River Dawn. Separates the Western Rainforest from the Farsang Fens.
